Statins Won't Save Your Life

Apparently, recommending statin drugs to just about everyone old enough to drive is not enough for Big Pharma. They want more...

Enter a new blockbuster cholesterol drug. Released in 2015, this cholesterol drug and others like it are expected to generate 100’s of billions YEARLY to Big Pharma coffers. But a recent study has revealed tragic results for patients AND profits.

The drug, Repatha, does not SAVE any lives.

The media will spin it because they are in bed with their corporate advertising masters. The Wall St. Journal and others comment that heart attacks and strokes are reduced, albeit a tiny reduction.

But at $15,000 per patient per year, you would think the drug would lower your risk of dying.

It doesn’t.

Look at the chart below and see the outcomes for yourself. The data this is circled reveals the evidence that more people died on Repatha. More died overall and more died from cardiac death if they were on the study drug.

The drug did reduce heart attacks by 1 in a 100. That means 100 people take the drug for 2 years, to prevent 1 heart attack. Again, not very impressive for 15K per year and not saving lives.

Currently, the stock price of the drug manufactuer, Amgen, is down 6% on breaking news. Don’t feel bad for Amgen, they have plenty of other drugs and the original investors are millionaires many times over. But don’t count out Repatha. It may not be the next $100 billion drug, but Amgen will still make billions off it.

Quoting the study author (and big pharma shill) “That’s a big benefit,” said the study leader Dr. Marc Sabatine, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. For millions of people with heart disease or high risk for it like those in the study, “it’s worth it to be on this medicine.”

How does this guy sleep with himself? He is the study author. Did he not read the results of his study? Who in their right mind would pay 15K for a drug that saves ZERO lives and only prevents 1 out of 100 heart attacks?

Other well known docs working for universities on the receiving end of Big Pharma’s payroll say it’s not a home run, “but an extra base hit.” Famous pill-pushing cardiologist Steve Nissen MD of the Cleveland Clinic said it’s a “triple.”

Give it up guys. Your baseball metaphors will not fool the public. Sadly, Dr. Nissen is almost 70 years old and has no idea how and why people get sick.

Apparently, Amgen is ready to double-down and offer a money-back guarantee. If you have a heart attack while on drug, you get your 15K per year back. Wow, aren’t they generous. Seriously, you cannot make this stuff up.

There is a better way. We do not need their pharmaceuticals. We do not need their dangerous procedures.

It is so sad that the MD’s have nothing significant when it comes to prevention.

All those years of training. For nothing.
