[WARNING] Water Across U.S. Contaminated by “Forever Chemicals”
Alex Reid, here with your Monday roundup.
Have you had your share of H2O today?
Science has long proven that water can do great things for your health.
It can energize your body, help stabilize your mood, and even flush impurities from your body.
That’s why this latest story really concerns me…
If you’re about to take a nice sip of water, just hold that thought.
Reuters recently reported that “man-made chemicals” are widely contaminating the country’s water supply.
Research points primarily to the New Orleans, Miami, and Philadelphia areas!
If you don’t live in those areas, you’re not necessarily off the hook.
Those are just some of the cities with the highest levels of contamination.
The wildest part of this story is that even Mother Nature can’t break down these chemicals. Reuters reports:
The chemicals, resistant to breaking down in the environment, are known as perfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS. Some have been linked to cancers, liver damage, low birth weight and other health problems.
Know what you’re putting in your body.
My job is to give you access to ideas, information, and tools that promote better health.
I implore you to read this story.
Water isn’t the only thing to watch out for…
There’s something in the air, too! A scary coronavirus has stricken China and is slowly spreading around the globe.
Back at ground zero, Chinese officials say that more than 2,000 people are infected, and 56 have died so far.
Until officials can get the virus under control, they’ve placed significant travel restrictions on China.
During the incubation period of 14 days, folks can spread the disease without displaying any symptoms.
Frankly, officials just don’t want to chance it.
Meanwhile, in the U.S., officials have already confirmed two diagnosed cases of the virus as well as many other “possibles.”
For now, flights out of Wuhan, China can only land at five U.S. airports: John F. Kennedy International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
If you’re looking for a way to protect yourself during your travels, the World Health Organization (WHO) shares a few safety tips in this story.
Today’s theme is “protection.”
People perish for their lack of knowledge, and I want you to be well informed.
That’s why I saved this news for last.
Has anyone had a sweet tooth lately?
A recent study shows that sugar can alter the brain’s chemistry in just 12 short days!
Danish Professor Michael Winterdahl, who played a huge role in the study, says:
If sugar can change the brain's reward system after only 12 days, as we saw in the case of the pigs, you can imagine that natural stimuli, such as learning or social interaction, are pushed into the background and replaced by sugar and/or other 'artificial' stimuli.
Though scientists performed the test on pigs, they believe it could have huge implications for the human brain.
