Welcome again to our special infographic series.

Today, we're taking on opiate painkillers again. In the past we shared how kratom may be an effective alternative to opiates — but it's not the only natural compound that can provide pain relief.

And people all over the world are taking notice of CBD oil.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a natural part of the cannabis plant, but it doesn't have any of the THC that creates the "high" marijuana is known for.

It does, however, have multiple healing properties and is showing promise in treating ailments ranging from arthritis to epilepsy.

Recent NIH research shows the side effects are much better than with many common pain drugs.

And since CBD oil comes from a simple plant, it's much cheaper than pharmaceuticals.
