THE ULTIMATE ANTIOXIDANT Could Fight These 5 Addictions

Dear Reader,

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is the ultimate antioxidant.

It fights off free radicals directly by increasing your body’s cysteine levels. Even better, it's also the most important amino acid for the production of glutathione.

Glutathione is another powerful antioxidant that clears out free radicals from cells and activates detoxification.

Together, these antioxidants protect your cells, DNA, organs, and other tissues from inflammation and toxins.

NAC can help with everything from exposure to toxic chemicals to heart disease to chronic pain.

But scientists recently discovered a whole new use for this antioxidant...

It has the ability to help you fight addiction!

Are you or a member of your family struggling with an addiction?

Take a look at these five different addictions that NAC can help fight.

1. Nicotine: Researchers have published many studies on the effects of NAC and nicotine addiction. NAC can help by:

  • Reducing nicotine cravings.
  • Decreasing the enjoyment of smoking.
  • Minimizing withdrawal symptoms.

NAC can literally restructure your brain’s reward pathways to help you refrain from smoking and kick tobacco for good.

In fact, out of a group of people addicted to cigarettes, half quit smoking after just three months of taking NAC supplements.

2. Cannabis: NAC may have a substantial effect on marijuana dependence in teenagers. One group of teens addicted to cannabis took NAC supplements, and the results showed a significant decrease in both the use of cannabis and alcohol.

Although the effects of NAC on cannabis are still being explored, many researchers consider NAC usage extremely safe and effective for marijuana dependence.

3. Amphetamines: Research is in the early stages when it comes to NAC and amphetamine addiction. So far, there are some promising results.

NAC may help reduce cravings of amphetamines, according to scientists.

A small group of people addicted to methamphetamine took NAC supplements for four weeks, while another group took a placebo. The NAC group had suppressed cravings for meth and, in turn, were less dependent on the drug.

4. Gambling: Gambling can activate the brain’s reward system the same way drugs do. This makes gambling highly addictive for many people.

Taking NAC supplements on their own or along with psychotherapy may help reduce pathological gambling.

5. Cocaine: Those with a cocaine addiction may really benefit from taking NAC. Over eight weeks, NAC supplements helped 111 people with cocaine dependency refrain from using the drug.

It can help reduce the desire for cocaine as well as prevent relapse. This may be due to the fact that NAC helps normalize high glutamate levels in the brain. There’s a strong link between abnormal glutamate levels and relapse.

How can you use this powerful antioxidant?

Unfortunately, you cannot get NAC through your diet. Instead, you have to take NAC supplements in capsule or powder form. Since the taste is unpleasant, we recommend going with capsules.

Doses can range from 600 mg to 3,000 mg, split up into two to three doses throughout the day.

Although side effects are not typical, you could experience nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation. Always ask your doctor before you start taking NAC supplements.
